Artificial intelligence - overrated hype or future technology? It is a fact that artificial intelligence has long since arrived in our everyday lives. Particularly in the industrial context, there is considerable potential for the use of artificial intelligence as a result of constantly growing data availability and improved analysis options. Especially for indirect business areas such as research and development (R&D), this creates a wide variety of potentials, but also corresponding challenges.
Targeting at a comprehensive exploration of this topic, an international benchmarking study is being conducted by the Complexity Management Academy and RWTH Aachen University (WZL) in cooperation with an industrial consortium consisting of 24 manufacturing companies.
Goal of the study was to elaborate successful and sustainable approaches for the integration of artificial intelligence in product development.
The focus was on the application of artificial intelligence in the product portfolio and the support of processes in product development. Furthermore, the prerequisites for a successful integration of the technology and its anchoring within the organization are exciting and at the same time challenging aspects, which are dealt within the study.
